Harajuku & Meiji Shrine Free Walking Tour

Discover two defining stories of modern Tokyo on a free walking tour through Meiji Shrine and Harajuku. In the heart of the city, explore the vast forest of Meiji Shrine, dedicated to Emperor Meiji and closely tied to Japan’s transformation into a modern nation. Then step into Harajuku, where postwar recovery, the Tokyo Olympics, fashion, and youth culture helped shape a new image of the city. With a local guide, see how imperial history, religion, reconstruction, and pop culture meet in one of Tokyo’s most striking contrasts.
