Kamakura Walking Tour

Discover a different side of Japanese history on a guided small-group walking tour through Kamakura, the city that became the center of Japan’s first samurai government. With a local guide, explore temples, shrines, historic streets, and sites connected to the Kamakura shogunate while learning how the rise of the warrior class changed Japanese politics, society, and culture. Unlike Kyoto, where imperial and aristocratic traditions remain central to the city’s identity, Kamakura reveals Japan through the history of samurai, shoguns, and the emergence of warrior rule.
